Mio GPS C520

十月下旬到花蓮玩, 由於事先訂好火車票, 所以到了花蓮才租車四處逛, 而最近 GPS 的使用已經很普遍, 所以在租車的同時也租用了一個 Mio 的產品使用. 當時租車公司所提供的 GPS 型號已不復記憶, 但使用的經驗卻很還深刻, 所以來聊聊個人使用的感覺.

在 設定目的地的過程中, 若改用其他的功能或搜尋方式, 則無法跳回之前的設定頁, 要回到主選單再來一次. 設定過的目的地無法有簡易的方式選用, 除非已儲存為自定點, 它沒有歷史紀錄供選取. 有些景點的分類有問題, 個人認為與其讓使用者找不到目的地, 不如將目的地重複置於各分類中, 雖然會佔用部分記憶體空間, 但在使用上會方便些. 這些是使用介面的問題, 各家的產品應該都有改進的空間, 必竟好用與否是見人見智的事.

上週末又到中部玩了三天, 這回在和運租車使用的是 Mio C520 型的 GPS (目前租車借用仍免費). 相較於上次在花蓮用的機型, 感覺使用上方便多了, 特別是景點的搜尋明顯比之前好用而簡單, 加上手寫的辨識率也很高, 所以使用上也快多了. 先前選單與功能的切換問題雖不是完全改進, 但比起舊款已進步不少.

在 道路的規畫上仍有一些改進的空間, 利如在臺中高鐵站附近, 明明高鐵站就在旁邊, 迴轉就可以到達, 但它就是只會要求去繞一圈從主要出入口進去. 當然, 這型也較舊款改進了一點, 上回在花蓮為了一個左轉 (該路口並未禁止左彎), 竟讓我進到一堆小巷子裏轉了三個右彎去繞一圈! 另外這次去新社是完全依靠它帶路, 不過事後查了地圖發現, 從臺中去新社它指出的道路是向北接四號高速公路, 再往南到新社去. 或許 C520 指的路徑可能會快些, 不過路途也遠些.

DAEMON - 虛擬光碟

之前在網路上下載了一部影片卻發現它的副檔名不知怎麼用, 經過一番蒐尋後才知道那是 "酒精" 產生的虛擬光碟檔, 由於沒有工具可以讀取, 最後是上 "酒精" 的網站下載試用版, 才終於將檔案轉到光碟片中來讀取. 因為 "酒精" 還不算便宜, 所以試用一次後就將它移除, 不過當時想到的是可能這類軟體還是有機會再用到.

前幾天在網路下載某個軟體, 它有一個通往 VeNoM386 & SwENSkE 的連結, 去下載後發現它的功能和 "酒精" 相當, 不同的是它免費允許個人做非商業的使用. 後來我在 PChome 也看到這個軟體, 不過在 PChome 上的是 4.09 版, 而官方網站是 4.10 版.

PicPick - 螢幕擷取軟體

前幾天在 PChome 看到一個免費的螢幕擷取軟體, 而且還可以對擷取的畫面做簡單的編輯, 雖然目前用的螢幕擷取軟體也是免費的, 不過由於不具有編輯的功能, 所以擷取的內容需要在其他程式中做處理較為不便.

下載後發現它己經有中文化的支援 (由臺灣的使用者, shaumantou, 協助, 非原作者製作), 而整體運作的狀況不輸於其他的商用螢幕擷取軟體, 當然有部分功能沒那麼強也不具那麼多選項 (否則作者就直接拿它賣錢了), 不過在多數的使用場合應該都足夠. 下方有原始連結與 PChome 的下載處, 希望有人也覺得它好用.

客戶休假我也早點下班

不再裝了, 反正客戶休假到星期二才回來, 所以有事星期一處理還來得及. :-P

客戶休假去了

兩天沒收到客戶的任何訊息, 應該是休假去了, 難怪前幾天在電話會議上一直強調我們的樣品不用急著這禮拜讓他們收到, 原來是因為打一開始就計畫出門, 反正人不在家東西給他們也沒用.

消失的時間

這雨天因為下一階段的樣品製作日程和客戶討論許久, 其中又因為要訂下前往客戶處檢討的日期而雙方各有意見. 我們在重新檢視整個專案的時程表發現有一段時間竟沒排入任何工作, 事實上那段時間猶如消失般地未被注意, 有趣的是客戶當初和我們一起檢討時程表也沒注意到. 昨天下午和客戶的電話會議中告知我們的計畫, 其中第二階段的樣品出圖時間會稍延幾日, 但後續的開模與量產時間不變, 並解釋原因在於原時程上的疏忽, 客戶也鬆了一口氣並同意我們修訂後的時程表, 最後檢討的日期也可以就此訂定了.

no log-on for a while

I just realized that I have been not log-on to BLOGGER for over month. There is no input at here on July. In fact, I don't have time to write something on other blog also. :-(

Promotion

之前老板提到的晉昇應該是今天生效了吧, 因為不單是我, 還有其他人也一併都反應在 mail server 的職級欄中.

買家行為學

臺灣人所謂 "會嫌的才是買客 (買主)", 正因為如此故客戶將案子給我們了, 而這星期日就要飛到美國去談一些細節, 等一會兒則會先與約翰先生 (又是他負責) 舉行電話會議, 將一部分我們不清楚的地方談一談, 以免下週一不知狀況浪費時間.

Our greate customer still unhappy

即便我們在上次的降價行動已減了約四分之一, 但客戶仍要求我們要降到一半的價格, 今天又丟出一份接近他們希望的報價, 不過前提是我們移除了部分特別的製程. :-P

New design was faild

We got new mock-up yesterday and tested it in the afternoon. The test result seems semi passed because the new design of link-bar and mesh-holder were both validated without problem. There is a new issue, which it changed from previous design, the from wall was deformed. After discussed with customer we propose to change back previous design and move two components backward 1mm. Customer agree with us and we should be able to release drawing for tooling tomorrow.

ID review for WHS

We had a meeting with ID team for WHS this morning to review their concept and discuss some items with them. As I told system team before, that adding a lock on front door is does not make sense for this kind of product. Because of size for this product is small, compare with regular PC, that stealer can just pick whole box away. They don't have to pick single hard drive for some data they want. ID team thought adding lock is not preferred and it will impact the whole image of their design.

Customer challenges our quotation

If our quotation is over customer's expectation then how come they still ask us to provide a update version for review. Is there any candidate for this project already? May be it will repeat XF project again that we will be the only vendor for this ODM.

Dickson's behavior

I don't know what's going on but Dickson was against us for everything. Even we forgave him already but he presented bad attitude again less than two hours.

Jackie's return day

Last Wednesday I met Gary at cafeteria and he told me that the application form for Jackie is not been signed yet. This means Jackie still unable to return office. Higher level has more concerns about the hiring for senior engineer.

Passed May

The last two week of May is very busy because three case need to take care. Anyway, one is wait for customer's feedback but we need to reply their questions from Thursday. Another is still on going and today should decide a ID for project. Final one will release drawings on Wednesday for tooling start.

Busy week

May be I have been not overtime for a while, that boss give me two more projects to handle. Those two projects just assigned last Friday. They already make me very busy this week. I thought there are two weeks passed but just one. How can I stand up to the coming future. :-(

Another month

One more month passed that I send nothing to this blog. :-( The main reason is here is not easy to post photo for me. I can send photo from office to YAHOO's blog page but not BLOGGER here. So I usual to use YAHOO's blog after firm policy changed.

Computer for office work

Our server is down this morning. Almost our office work, they are parts design, customer feedback, reply e-mail... etc., are rely on computer net working. Without the network, every one can not link to e-mail nor registered on software server, and can not sign any application form as well.

Seems the problem started from the early morning around 4:00. Some of those server become normal near 11:00, but still a lot of service is under fixing.

New project MEI

MEI is a little girl's name who is one of the leading character in Japanese cartoon TOTOTRO. This new project had a kick-off meeting on February before Chinese new year. Our customer is come the our office again to discuss some detail items.

The agenda for meeting yesterday is ME has morning time for ID and structure discussion, but we spend whole day for ME portion only. We also spend almost the afternoon for ME discussion too. There is a lot of time was wait for customer internal discussing or considering during our meeting. Seems they are very hard to make some decision and that why we stole the most of meeting time.

Any way, the two days meeting already finished. We'd better to get start for design work and catch the schedule.

Lost my bank withdraw card

I got to withdraw some money today for bills. When I stood in front of ATM I found no card in my wallet. Of course I didn't get money at all. Fortunately, I still have some in the wallet for bills today. The first thing I did was go to find the card but nothing found. Finally, my wife found it which the card was put in the bag with bankbook. I have no idea why my card was there but anyway I am able to pay other bills tomorrow.

By the way, how come there are so many bills! :-(

Dickson feel bad this morning

Dickson 一早就說他肚子不舒服, 但又沒有明顯的徵象可看出問題, 結果只好連絡娘幫忙帶他. 不過他在中午左右還是去學校了, 娘說下午再帶他去給醫生檢查.

Brownies Cafè

Today we got a tea time at Brownies Cafè finally. We planned to go there for weeks but they are off last Sunday that we didn't make it. Anyway, we had a great tea time this afternoon and also tasted very good coffee too.

By the way, Dickson took chocolate milk there. They have a pot with a small cute cup for it. :-)

Race game of rabbit and tortoise

那天上 LSS 課的一開始, 講師就先將新版龜兔賽跑的故事又提了一次, 不過他將網路上流傳的新版本也一次講完. 新版的結局是烏龜和兔子各發揮自己的核心競爭力, 並且兩人一起合作完成更佳的成績.

這個故事又令我想起幾年前的一件事, 當時我正加入一個不太好搞的專案中, 客戶是日本的世界級大廠, 而競爭對手是許多方面都很強大的富士康. 該專案是老闆與許多業務人員努力後, 才從客戶那兒分到富士康的部分產能, 不過在量產的整體能力上, 我們確實較富士康有一段差距.

話說有一回我們的料況又出問題, 採購安東尼一直無法推動廠商備足料件, 而廠商的良率無法提昇也是料況的主因. 安東尼和我討論該如何改善這程情況時, 有感而發地說道, 如果將我們的主機板和富士康的機構料件互補有無, 以便發揮各自的核心競爭力至極致, 那麼這樣一來豈不是一個大家一起賺錢的方法. 他說的其實也就是大家常說的 "雙贏" 策略, 而這個方式還不僅是雙贏且是三贏, 因為客戶也可以得到不論是主機板或機構件的最佳品質.

當時安東尼也提到另一件事, 為何兩批中國人要互相廝殺而無法得到應有的利潤 (註), 並為日本客戶做嫁讓他們坐擁世界市場. 這種看法當然有些偏頗或過激, 但中國人是盤散沙卻一直是不爭的事實, 無法一起合作創造共同的更大利益, 才是中國人一直無法躋身成為經濟強國的原因之一.

雖然有時我覺得安東尼蠻混的, 但他的這個想法我一直無法忘懷, 再次聽到新版龜兔賽跑的故事, 更令我憶及數年前的談話而心有所感.

註: 當時該專案有著龐大的營業額, 但同時卻僅有極低--近乎賠錢--的利潤.

Thailand trip for chassis

I went to Chiang-Mai, Thailand last week. That trip was just 3 days for chassis out-of-spec issue. The chassis is certain an NG part without doubt. Even an RD engineer, vendor side, has confirmed with me but vendor still deny to admit this issue. Finally, they checked with their RD and understand what customer and I mentioned about. The report for the issue is delay for two days to release. What can I say? There is always has bad vendor with you project. :-(

I thought our customer also think is my way. :-P

New customized blog address for Yahoo!Kimo

今天在雅虎奇摩發現可以自訂部落格位址, 所以去申請了一個易記的名稱: eel-ccc, 不過申請時竟忘了應該申請一個和這?一樣的名稱 man-de 做為自己的位址, 真是有點豬頭. :-P

Pasting pictures on new blog

I found that pasting photo to the blog on Yahoo!Kimo is easier than Blogger. I have to use a special program to post photo to the web, then modify the text by myself. The main reason, I thought, is Blogger do not have a space to show the photo.
